The powertrain of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS includes a 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine that generates the maximum power of 89 bhp and the peak torque of 200 Nm. The mill is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and offers Maruti Suzuki claimed fuel efficiency of 28.09 kmpl.

Mahindra Scorpio Intelli-Hybrid –
County’s homegrown auto manufacturer, Mahindra and Mahindra introduced its much-anticipated SUV, Scorpio in 2.2-litre mHAWK engine with Intelli-Hybrid technology after the diesel ban in Delhi NCR hit its market worst. Later, the maker also came up with a 1.99-lire mHAWK motor featuring the same hybrid technology. Besides reducing the CO2 emission, the technology also boosts the fuel mileage of the car.
Mahindra claims that its smart intelli-hybrid technology help in reducing the fuel consumption up to 7 percent and hence, offers better mileage. This innovative theory assists the engine with the electrical energy during acceleration and switches off the engine if vehicle standstills for more than 3 seconds and again starts the engine by simply pressing the clutch.

Toyota Camry Hybrid –
Toyota’s mid-luxury hybrid sedan, Camry was introduced a while back in India and recently received a price cut under the Government of India’s FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of hybrid and Electric vehicles) scheme. The Toyota Camry hybrid is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol mill which is further connected to a 143 PS electric motor and produces a combined power output of 205 PS along with the maximum torque of 270 Nm. The hybrid configuration of the mill is governed by an electrically operated CVT unit.
The highlight of the Camry is the Hybrid Synergy Drive which enables the driver to switch over electric mode from petrol and vice versa. The car gets to driving modes namely, Eco and Evo mode. Toyota offers the Camry hybrid in a single variant and claims a fuel economy of 19.16 kmpl.

Honda Accord Hybrid –
Recently, Honda Car India launched the Accord Sedan with the hybrid powertrain, which will be brought in the country via CBU (Complete Built Unit) route. Although, the Hybrid Accord is more expansive than its rival, the Camry Hybrid, but offers a number of first-in-class features and keeps the occupant’s safety at the top priority.
Mechanically, the 2016 Accord Hybrid comes with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol mill that is good for 145 PS. BMW’s futuristic i8 electric cum hybrid car was introduced in early 2014 Auto Expo India and became a legend in the electric segment. The i8 features a 1.5-litre inline 3-cylinder arrangement along with a 7.1 kWh lithium-ion battery and produces a combined power output of 357 PS and a combined torque of 320 Nm.
