Last updated on – 14th April, 2016
Honda Activa was the initial product of Honda motorcycles in India. The scooter competed with many others in last decade and won the king’s place every time. The competition got fierce when the two wheeler manufacturer started thinking of higher capacity scooters. The race of economy scooter with better performance started with Suzuki Access which has made Honda shiver for a while. Access broke most of the records in the segment with its powerful, yet economic 125cc engine. Initially, Suzuki made its impact over the leader’s grip, but eventually, it switched back to the track. Few months back, Honda also introduced Activa-I which was meant for youth and seniors, and it received huge appreciation also.
Activa, being the market’s first choice has served public with its 110cc engine. Understanding the strategy of powerful vehicles, Honda introduced a better Activa with 125cc engine and major cosmetic upgrades. Activa 125 is finally here at an attractive and jaw dropping cost. The leader has got style with latest features and performance graph.
Activa 125 is blessed with 125cc engine with exerts out 8.6 BHP of power at 6500 RPM. It pulls out user from crowd with 10.12 Nm of torque moving at 5500 RPM. The transmission box is automatic with V-Matic CVT transmission technology. Front wheel is attached to telescopic fork suspensions and rear is mated to spring surrounded hydraulic units. This variant is quite nice in terms of power, capacity and torque than the old Activa which was tuned to produce 8 BHP of max power at 5500 RPM with 8.65 Nm of peak torque at 5500 RPM. Undoubtedly, the Activa 125 scores more here but only if it is priced well. Here, the margin money will decide the contender of the victory.
Activa 125 is available in two variants; Standard and Delux. Standard variant is equipped with steel rims and drum brakes while Delux is loaded with alloy wheels and front disc brakes. Rs.52,447 is what company demands against the standard variant and deluxe variant costs Rs. 58,156. This cost is higher than the older version by Rs.7,000 to Rs.8,000. Here, the new active makes more sense as it is equipped with better features and has a new design also.
Not only these are the scooters which are present in the market at competitors, rather, they are siblings which will serve people with different demands and taste. The competition goes high with the scooters like Mahindra rodeo and TVS Jupiter which are also close to the active 125 and cost somehow neighborly to them. The verdict will be blown out as it gets on the road.
