Holi in Rajasthan

Rajasthan celebrates the Holi with different style in different region. Rajasthan plays the Holi just like in Mathura. People play Holi by throwing colors, water balloon on each others. And before the day of Dhulandi, they burn the bonfire on the day of Holika Dahan, plating cow dung in the bonfire and also celebrate it as the beginning of spring season.


As Rajasthan is known for its royalty, Royals of Rajasthan mingle with the public. In the Mali community, they celebrate this festival by putting colors on women, and women hit men with clothes. People in Rajasthan also play Holi by tossing water on each other through Dolchi (A specially designed vessel for collecting the water) with full force.

Holi is originally named Dhulndi in Haryana. Haryana has a tradition that the festival is for Bhabhi and Devar. Bhabhis can drub their devars on Holi. Bhabhi can make prank on devars. Devars bring sweets for their bhabhis in the evening. Overall this festival brings full of fun and joy.
