Sometimes it feels damn annoying when we can not decide what to make as a snack so that everyone in the family enjoys it without making any complaints. But, eventually we come up with the regular cuisines that one has no choice, but to eat. Tea time is considered as the most appropriate time to have some refreshment and when mom serves the usual stuff, we all are like making miserable faces.
While taking a break from the boring evening meals all the time, we have decided to present something new to your kitchen today. Falafel, a crunchy Kabuli chana pattie is one of the most famous middle East-Indian snacks that you can try at your home. Besides, it doesn’t consume much time and can be best enjoyed as a light meal. Its lip-smacking taste will make you say ‘wow’ when served with Salad, Hummus, Baba Ganoush and Tahini Sauce. So, let’s have a look at the instant Falafel recipe .
Ingredients Required:
1. 1 cup of dried chickpeas. (drained and rinsed)
2. 3/4 cup finely chopped cilantro (Dhania Patta)
3. 3/4 cup finely chopped parsley
4. 2-3 garlic beans
5. 3-4 tablespoon breadcrumbs or 2 tablespoon oats flour (as per your need)
6. 1 teaspoon cumin powder or seeds
7. 1/2 large onion (finely chopped)
8. 2 tablespoon coriander powder
9. 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
10. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
11. 1 teaspoon lemon juice
12. Salt as per taste
Procedure for making Falafel:
1. Sink dried chickpeas with water for overnight. Make there is ample amount of water that covers the peas entirely. In the morning, discharge the water and rinse them well. Remove the chickpeas to some other utensil so that water can be drained completely.
2. In a mixer jar, put the chickpeas, chopped onion, and garlic slices.
3. Add the cumin seeds, coriander powder, red chilli powder, black pepper powder and salt to the stuff.
4. After that, place parsley, cilantro, lime juice and breadcrumbs as well.
5. Mix all the ingredients until it turns out to be a medium coarse texture. Check the process in between that whether it is going on well or not. Make sure no water is there while you blend the things.
6. When it feels like the texture is even, transfer it to a large bowl. Taste a pinch of the mixture to check whether all the seasonings are appropriate or not. Add accordingly.
7. From the meshed stuff, make lemon sized round balls and press them gently by putting it in your palms. They will automatically get a pattie type shape.
8. Do the same with remaining mixture and put the cute patties in an another container.
9. In the next step, heat 2-3 tablespoon oil in a pan over a medium flame. When oil gets heat up well, put around 4-5 pieces of the pattie into the pan and shallow fry them. Stir the patties while frying so that they do not stick to the base of the pan.
10. Fry them for 2-3 minutes until they take a light brownish shade on both the sides. Flip them while frying.
11. Transfer the golden buddies into a paper napkin. The extra oil will be soaked by them. Do the same process for the remaining patties.
12. Your delicious evening snack is ready to be served with Tahini Sauce or Salad.
