Player retention list for Pepsi IPL 2014
On Friday, the retention of the players for IPL 7 has been over. Final list of retained players have been declared on Friday at 5 PM. Total 24 players have retained their positions, among that, 14 are India players including 3 uncapped players while 10 players of overseas have been retained. Now Final bid for team players will be held on 12 & 13 February 2014 at Bangalore.
Each team has Rights to match (RTM) card, according to this a team can buy a player after the completion of bidding, which belongs previously to that team. It depends the status of the retained players.
If a team already has retained 3, 4 or 5 players then ‘Right to match’ card will be only 1. If retained players are 1, 2 then 2 RTM card will be in auction, otherwise all three cards will be available for RTM. Delhi Daredevils is only team which retained no any player for upcoming season because of poor performance in last season of IPL, But after completion of bid they can use their all 3 RTM cards.
Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals are those teams that retained all 5 players and Royal Challengers Bangalore retained 3 players while Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad retained 2-2 players.
Ranjib Biswal, Chairman IPL said, “it is very important to retain some icon players for the fans feedback, cricket and franchises point of view, and continuity of these Icon players will make IPL more entertaining. I am very happy to see three uncapped players in this list, it is very good sign for Indian Cricket future, it proves that IPL is the great platform for find talent”.
