BMW Motorrad developed SOS call system is one from it.  A Thai innovation center is working on the same theory with its newly-designed helmet, entitled as ‘Helpmet’. The Helpmet concept works on the impact force of the accident if the resultant force can tend the rider to an unconsciousness situation. The system will automatically call the medics

The Helpmet includes a smartphone, SIM Card, GPS and the necessary component the phone network. The helmet runs on a rechargeable battery and impact sensors. Available sensors sense the impact and if the impact force is 95g and higher, it will call the ambulance and will provide your coordinates to the medics.

The helmet user will be registered to the Helpmet call emergency services by providing all its personal details, name, and address. The help center will provide the name and address to the medics as well as the information about the allergies or any pre-existing medical issue that can help to save the life of the rider.

Laser Light Headlamp

The German bike maker, BMW Motorrad presented its ultra-modern technologies at the advancing Consumer Electronic Show (CES). The showcased technologies by the German automaker includes a futuristic laser light and new generation HUD-equipped helmet for the upcoming new bikes of the BMW stable.

Laser Light Headlamp

Laser Light Headlamp

The laser lighting tech has already been taken on to BMW’s flagship 7-series and i8 series and now companies have been passed this technology to its two-wheeler brothers. The BMW Motorrad placed the laser light onto the concept vehicle K 1600 GTL Tourer and a series of motorcycle for testing the worthiness of the light. This laser tech headlamp is capable of producing the high beam of bright and pure white light, range up to 600 meters to illuminate everything clearly on the road. The technology is too expensive in perspective to employ now and will take time of minimum 3 to 5 years to get the real form on to the production machines.

Head-up Display Helmet

The HUD tech has been developed by the German automaker BMW in 2003. Now the manufacturer is planning to employ this tech on the helmet for improving the two-wheeler rider safety. The HUD tech will provide all the important information on the Glass display at the rider’s right eye. The projected information may comprise of tire pressure, travel speed, selected gear, oil level, fuel level or a hazard ahead. The HUD can also navigate the rider to follow the route on a map. The BMW is thinking to use this device for a vehicle to vehicle communication. the technology is capable of warning for the sudden mishappening.

Head up Display Helmet

The installed cameras on the helmet can be used so intelligently, a rear camera as a rear view mirror while a primary camera mounted at the front enables rider in the group to see the road from the fellow rider’s perspective. The helmet is also furnished with integrated mini-computer and loudspeakers, which can easily be controlled from the left-hand handlebar by using BMW Multi controller. This technology can also be integrated in the existing helmets without affecting rider’s comfort and safety. the HUD tech gets the power from a pair of replaceable batteries that give the service time of five hours.

Cornering ABS

The Cornering ABS, an unusual technology developed in the collaboration of BMW Motorrad and Bosch approx two years ago for the BMW super bike project  S1000RR. However, several automakers are also using this tech in their performance motorcycles to enhance the safety of the rider with dissimilar names like angle-sensitive or race ABS and  lean sensitive ABS.

Cornering ABS

Cornering ABS

The integrated central processing unit calculates the data collected from the variety of sensors and apply the appropriate amount of pressure on the brake pads. Altogether it distributes the braking force between the front and rear brake to protect the rider from the glide, while in full lean position at the center of the corner. It helps in reducing the danger of mishappening while cornering and sudden braking at high speed.

The Cornering ABS is an important component for the powerful road going motorcycles, but it has not been proved race worthy, otherwise we would have seen it in the racing motorcycles. At this time, this ABS asset is being used in various bikes in 2015, as KTM Adventure and Super Duke, Ducati Multistarda and BMW S 1000 XR. After being available at an affordable offering, it can also be equipped onto the slowest motorcycles also.

Forced Induction System

The Japanese giant, Kawasaki breaks the orthodox tradition with the introduction of supercharged super bikes- H2/H2R. The high-powered motorcycle is not for everyone, only a few who have pockets full of money. Basically Turbo and superchargers are not meant for the motorcycle engines as it contains low weight, which means a huge amount of power for the thrilling performance. At the Tokyo Motor Show, the Japanese automaker, Suzuki displayed an XE7 engine with a small inscription, “ Under development, turbocharged engine for motorcycles, in-line twin, DOHC, 4-valve.” that shows that the future is not all about absolute power.

Forced Induction System

Forced Induction System

At the same venue in 2013, Suzuki showcased the Recursion concept model which gets power from 588cc twin-cylinder engine with a turbocharger engine, that seems related to the XE7 motor. the difference between the turbocharged engine patent filed in 2015 and displayed at 2013, Tokyo Motor Show was the position of inter-cooler, in patent drawing it was placed behind the engine block and at exhibition features the inter-cooler above the cylinder heads. The concept remained same beside the placement of single inter cooler on the motor. Turbocharger enhances the mid range torque, combine power with excellent fuel economy, and does need to rev high for power.

Kawasaki also unveiled a Sprit Charger concept which gets power from a new four-cylinder in-line Balanced Supercharged engine at the same venue. However, few details have been revealed, but the main things came out was the focus on “ increased fuel economy”. The comeback of the forced induction in the motorcycle production is for achieving the goal of fuel-efficiency and practicality.

Electric Vehicles

The new revolution which came across at the recent EICMA show was the introduction of electric powered motorcycles from the big manufacturers of the world. Harley-Davidson showcased its live-wire project and offered for demo rides at the motor show. But the company did not commence the production and marketing of the live-wire concept motorcycle in the real world. The production of the motorcycle is so expensive and will not be produced until the next generation of batteries being available in the market. The European manufacturers BMW and KTM emerged as a leader in term of electric vehicles as BMW showcased the electric C-evolution scooter and sells it in the selected market globally. The automaker made an announcement for its experimental eRR Superbike concept-with projecting any sign of its production as yet.

Electric Vehicles

Electric Vehicles

While the KTM made a Freeride electric range with a motocross, a road-legal Supermoto and an Enduro model. But these are also being proved expensive units, because of its high price and small range production. Beside these two European brands only Piaggio try his hand to develop Piaggio’s hybrid three-wheeler. Furthermore, Japanese automakers have been propelled out so many concept models of advanced scooters but any production model never came across to the masses.Practically, these technologies are really expensive for now, but the largest production range will reduce the cost of the product.
