New Toyota Innova Crysta: Review
Toyota has become a well known brand in the Indian Auto community. The things that Toyota offer is found in no other car brand. We all have some experience with the Toyota Innova model. Either going for vacations or having a short trip to airport, the journey with this particular car has always been enjoyable.
According to a report, over 6 Lakh Innova models are already running on Indian roads. It took a while and patience for the automaker to come up with a new upmarket model christened as Innova Crysta this year. Now, with this latest upbringing, Toyota is aiming to engage valued Innova buyers in the country once again.
Exterior:
As seen at this year’s Auto Expo, Toyota Innova Crysta is undoubtedly wider, longer and taller than its predecessors. It’s 180mm longer (4735mm), 60mm wider (1830mm) and 40mm (1795mm) taller than the outgoing model. The wheelbase remains unchanged at 2750mm.
The front fascia gets an aggressive hexagonal grille accompanied by double-barrel headlights. The aerodynamic wings have been used to bring in great stability. The top variants gets empowered by large 17-inch wheels. The D-pillar looks elegant along with the rear touched with saber-tooth inspired taillamps. The chassis design gives it a bold figure that can takeover any kind of Indian terrain.
Interior:
The interior gets complete makeover with the multiple layer and the enormous use of new premium material as upholstery. The dashboard offers latest gadget accessories along with value added features such as dual zone climate control and navigation enabled 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The driver’s seat gets more comfortable and multiple-way adjustable. Overall the cabin appears fancy with the AC vents located at right places. The new infotainment system also displays trip meter, rear camera access and fuel economy calculator.
Features:
The cabin is most suitable for long drives. As, the air vents are available in every corner, we get cooled glove box along with a couple of cup-holders. The cabin also gets 12V power socket along with a USB charger. The seats are as comfortable as a premium sedan. The seats can be folded by simply sliding to the front, making more space in the rear. There’s also a foldable table and a button to slide forward the front seats. The main likable feature is that all the seven occupants get the three-point seatbelts, ensuring better protection. The third row seats can be folded in order to make more room for luggage. In short, the features are as follows: ABS, EBD, Start-stop button, keyless start,seven airbags, touchscreen interface, reversing cam and Brake Assist.
Engine:
With the launch of Innova Crysta, Toyota has introduced new options for the powermill. Crysta gets a new 2.4-litre diesel motor which delivers a 149 PS at 3400 rpm followed by a peak torque of 343 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. While, the other 2.8-litre turbocharger diesel engine pumps out maximum power output of 172 PS along with a peak torque of 360 Nm. This comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Interestingly, Innova Crysta is the second MPV, after the Maruti Ertiga, to offer an automatic transmission option in India. The engines offer two drive modes, namely Power and Eco. The Eco mode detunes the engine and overcomes the throttle response, while the Power mode provides more thrust.
Ride and Handling:
With this build quality, compiled with high tensile steel chassis, the Innova Crysta doesn’t seem to disappoint a bit. The large rear shock absorbers carry out their task pretty well.
The MPV goes smooth on both on-road and off-road. Unlike the smaller MPVs, Innova Crysta’s ride quality is impressive and reliable.

Toyota Innova has different market base in the Country. The things that Innova has offered, we found no other match for it. It’s been 11 years, since the first generation Innova model was launched in India, and till now the automaker has been successfully marking its presence in the market. At times, Toyota Qualis used to be in high demand but as time changed, the automaker decided to replace qulais with the seven-seater MPV named Innova. Innova offered all latest features and safety equipments that a buyer seeks in a big car. Even though the prices increased competitively but the sales chart witnessed no drop.
Now, with the new Innova Crysta, Toyota aims to be more friendly with the Toyota customers by offering them what they need in the present day. No matter how competitively it has been priced, Toyota Innova Crysta will be a leading player in the MPV segment.
