You must have heard about the rivalling products of various manufacturers, but have you thought of sibling rivalry. Yeah!! This is new trend acquired by several national and international two-wheeler manufacturers. Nowadays, the buyers are majorly looking for a budget-friendly motorcycle, which comes along with frowning impression and stunning performance. Back in the 2000’s, the firms are following a different strategy for launching a new product. They would like to introduce a competitive product, which will be battling against the existing motorcycle or it could be a scooter as well.

Talking about the current holding situation, the trend is subject to the market risks. Depending upon the market situation, the firms have accordingly developed their products or vice-versa. From past 3-4 years, the two-wheeler makers have acquired a pretty different strategy. The tactics bagged-up by the companies will let you discover various variants under one model; not only motorcycles but scooters also. The product portfolio of the companies sometimes dislocates my mind on two products, that whether I would go for this or should opt out that.

However, here I am projecting lights over the contemporary market situation. Companies like KTM, Bajaj, Honda, Suzuki, etc. are pursuing a similar approach. KTM has entered the Indian market in the year 2013 with its naked twin siblings, KTM 390 Duke and 200 Duke. In 2014, the firm has launched faired siblings, i.e. KTM RC 390 and RC 200. The faired and naked siblings are equipped with similar engine specifications, it’s just the fairing which is discriminating them in two series.

Moving towards the Indian company, Bajaj Auto Ltd., also matches up its steps with the KTM. Recently, the Bajaj has launched the Pulsar RS200, which is identical in terms of engine specifications to its flagship sports motorcycle; Bajaj Pulsar 200NS. Again, there is a toss between naked and faired siblings. Moreover, the Suzuki Motorcycles has come-up with its all-new naked street-fighter; Suzuki Gixxer. Being a commuter segment motorcycle, it is doing quite well in achieving good sales figure.

So, coming back to my question, what is the reason behind this kind of strategy followed by the two-wheeler makers these days? Well, in my opinion, it is indirectly arising an in-house competition between the siblings. If the companies will be offering a regular product, which is powered-up by the enhanced electronic equipment, powerful engine and offers amazing riding quality, it would unquestionably become the first choice of the users. Putting forward similar products, instead of proposing a unique creation will not let the customers make up their mind.

The impedance is getting tougher each passing day. In the future, we’ll see whether the siblings together, helping out the firms to increase the sales figures or they are rivalling with each other’s sales figures. Admit it!! A solo performer always does its best in any challenge.
