India is the largest democratic country in the World and according to this, Prime Minister is the principal head of the Government of the Republic of India. According to the Indian constitution, the prime minister is the Head of the Government, chief advisor to the president, head of the Council of the Ministers and the leader of the majority party in the Parliament.
There have been 13 prime ministers elected since 1947. Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India appointed in 1947. He served till 27 May 1964 and at present Dr. Manmohan Singh is the Indian Prime Minister. We are sharing the list of Indian prime ministers till date:
