International Yoga Day – India ties itself with Yoga on 21 June
International Yoga Day is going to be celebrated on 21st of June. It gets its recognition last year when PM Narendra Modi swear in as the 16th Prime Minister of India. PM Modi is a person who has adopted Yoga within his life. He use to do Yoga everyday. After taking oath as PM, PM Modi went to address the United Nation General Assembly on September 27, 2014 wherein he spoke that Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. While closing his speech, he quoted “Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day.” Considering the request of PM Modi on behalf of global countries, United Nations General Assembly on 11 December, 2014 finally declared 21st June as International Yoga Day. 21 June 2015 will be declared as the first anniversary of International Yoga Day.
Yoga and its History:
It is a word which is derived from Sanskrit word “YUJ” which means to join or unite. In Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism the yoga means “spiritual discipline”. According to the believes of Yogic writ, yoga is practiced in order to connect interconnect a person consciousness with the global consciousness. It is believed that this art is having its origin in somewhat 5,000 year ago. But few even think that yoga was having its existence 10,000 years ago. Existence of yoga comes into consideration during Indus civilization where it has been mentioned in texts of Rig Ved. With the passage of time, this art was started to be with Brahmins and Rishis. who practiced different postures and mentioned them in their hand written Upnishads. In late 1800s and early 1900s, the masters of yoga started traveling outside the country in order to enlarge the scope and increase their followers. The dedication towards yoga was still minimal until Indra Devi unbolted her yoga workshop in Hollywood in 1947. Since then, this art of spiritual filtration gets recognition among common man.

Today is the time when each and every living being is running shortage of time. In that hectic schedule, no time is stolen to get relaxed or to regain the lost energy. In the row of success, it has been planned on Sunday to break world record by running the single largest session of yoga with around 45,000 people in New Delhi. Yog expert including Guru Ramdev will be present in that session. 80 to 100 foreigners are also expected to be there to attend the ever biggest Yog session.
