Holi is famous in India with its versatility. India is the country of many religions which celebrate the festival with different names and different rituals. Each style of playing this festival follows some story. Each story shows the cultural difference for celebrating this festival. Barsane Ki Holi


Barsane Ki Holi – Celebrated in Barsana. Barsana is the Shri Krishna’s beloved Radha’s birthplace, which is around 45KM away from Mathura. Holi of Barsana is the main attraction point in India. Lots of people congregate at Radha Rani temple to watch this Holi which is also called as Latth Mar Holi.

It sounds atrocious which is quite true. In the Holi of Barsana, boys of Nandgao come to Barsana to play Holi with the girls of Barsana. They welcome the Nandgao’s boy with sticks in her hands. The purpose of sticks is to beat the boys of Nandgao. Hence, the Holi of Barsana is also known as ‘Latth Mar Holi’.

RangPanchami


Rang Panchami – Rang Panchami falls on the fifth day after Holi i.e. Falguni Purnima of Krishna Panchami. It is also celebrated in different region including North region and Konkan region. Specially locales of Maharashtra celebrate this festival of Rang Panchami.

On Rang Panchami, People play with colors and also enjoy this occasion with singing and dancing. On Rang Panchmi, they perform fisher folks. This is also known as Shimgo or Shimga in Maharshtra.
