Anarsa

Anarsa is a popular sweet dish of Maharashtra and central India, mostly made during Indian festivals like Diwali, Holi, and Ganesh Chaturthi. It is served as a dessert and most of the people relish in eating this yummy sweet. Probably, you might have heard before about this dish even I didn’t know. But, when I came to know, learned its recipe and cooked at home, it was delicious to taste!!!

Following are the instructions for the sweet dish “Anarsa”:

Ingredients

  • Rice Flour (chawal ka aata)- 250 gm
  • Khoya/Mawa- 100 gm
  • Sugar- 125 gm
  • Ilaichi Powder- ½ tsp
  • Til (seasame)- 2 tbsp
  • Cooking oil/Ghee- 250 gm
  • Dry Fruits- 2 tbsp (chopped fine)

Methods for Preparation

  • Make sugar syrup with 250 ml water and boil it.
  • Add rice flour (chawal ka aata) and stir it continuously, so that a lump is not formed of it.
  • Cook it for 5 minutes and then keep aside for cooling and after that make the dough.
  • For khoya mixture, add ilachi powder and dry fruits into it and blend it well.
  • Make the round balls of the dough and flat them with a rolling pin and stuff it with the khoya mixture in the center.
  • Then, close the edges together to seal the mixture.
  • Now, paste the til (sesame) on one side them and soak into hot oil.
  • Deep fried until they get brown.
